Nothing Like Holiday Cash Cows...Kanye, Killers and Guns N' Roses Duke It Out

Monday, November 10, 2008

When I saw a Christmas tree in Kroger's Grocery the day after Halloween, I knew that the holiday season had pounced on me. I hadn't even eaten up my Halloween cupcakes or finished off the bag of candy corn yet and already it's time to buy wreaths and holly. Who else is cashing in on the holiday season before we can say "Santa Claus"? Island Def Jam Records. The record label has done a shameless marketing ploy by moving up the drop dates for three hotly anticipated albums. Kanye West's 808's and Heartbreak, The Killers' Day and Age and Ludacris's Theatre Of The Mind were all originally slated to drop on Tuesday, November 25th but are now set to grace shelves on Monday, November 24th. Oooh, oh so sneaky...Island Def Jam may also be trying to by trounce on Guns N' Roses's controversially loooooong awaited Chinese Democracy album, which is to drop rebelliously on Sunday, November 23rd at Best Buy retailers only. It's about to get ugly as all four of these albums are duking it out for the #1 spot that week. But we know the real battle rests between G'n'R's Axl Rose and Kanye West...two cocky and outspoken mofos who will no doubt be grinding their teeth to knobs by Thanksgiving weeks end once those sale numbers roll in. Still I encourage Killers' Brandon Flowers and Ludacris to get in a few good punches. Well...I know that come the 24th, I'll be elbowing my way through bat-shit crazy Wal-Mart shoppers to get these albums as well as that Butterball bird. Here's to the holidays!
