First Impressions: Kylie and Coldplay Release "Sexy" Track For Charity

Tuesday, December 2, 2008

Kylie Minogue is no stranger to stepping out of her dance romp mode and trying on a different hat. We've seen it with the Impossible Princess album and that eerie duet with Nick Cave. Well, now Kylie has joined forces with piano-rock super band, Coldplay to record a song in honor of World AIDS Day (which was yesterday). The song is called "Lhuna" and it's a bizarre, sinister and depressing piece but it's rather intriguing...in an off the beaten path sense. The track is the alleged throwaway that Kylie had recorded with the band for their recent chart topper, Viva La Vida. The song didn't make the cut because it was deemed "too sexy" for the album. To me the song fits with what Viva represented, but hey, what's sexy to some isn't to others.

Nonetheless, it's quite a song, and proves that Kylie and Chris Martin's voices gel great together...I'm crossing my fingers for them to duet again. The song "Lhuna" is available through download thanks to online mag, Red (Wire) whom has hooked up with a handful of artists to record tracks for this special project. The proceeds from these songs will be given to U2's Bono's Red AIDS charity. Other acts's songs you might here over the course of the week: duets such as Jay-Z & Santogold ("Brooklyn Go Hard"), The Killers & Elton John ("Joseph, Better You Than Me") as well as artists John Legend and Bob Dylan.
