How To Cover A Song and Not Look Like A Fool...Christina Shows You How

Thursday, December 4, 2008

Let me take the time to congratulate Christina Aguilera for doing a cover version the CORRECT way. At the Grammy Nominations Concert last night, Miss A. did a rousing version of Nina Simone's "I Loves You Porgy" (from the Gershwin musical, Porgy & Bess--if you've never seen it, rent it and learn the power of Sidney Poitier and Dorothy Dandridge together on screen). I like the fact that she didn't over sing and didn't come in contact with "wavy hand" syndrome. It was controlled and proves that there are still some singers out there. That was GORGEOUS...now she should've done something like this for 2006's Back To Basics... And speaking of gorgeous...LL Cool J, I see you...
