"Lovesick"-Friendly Fires (2008)

How did I miss this gob of funkalicious ecstasy? I don't know, but I'm glad it's in my life right now. The Friendly Fires is a band that I heard about in passing but really didn't give a second thought, because it's hard to keep up when your life is filled with many adventures musically and not. It's bizarre that I heard this song called, "Lovesick" in Express of all places and in a split second I stopped scoping out the racks and listened to the electro-funk pumping out over the loud speakers. When something stops me in the middle of a tyraid of know it's serious. It must be all this damn scarf buying that I have been doing lately, but I'm turning into some Indie pop fan all of a's literally scaring me. Whatever, "Lovesick" is a kicking tripendicular song and I could care less if FF are three blokes from Hertfordshire, UK who specialize in indie pop/disco/rock, or whatever long genre label they are given. Helter skelter percussion, a chugging beat remiscent of 1970's disco and a catchy groove of a chorus, this song is perfectly crafted as such and what a groovin' little relic this is.
