Audio Vision: Kanye Tells His Story...and Much More

Monday, March 2, 2009

Was all quiet on the Kanye West front when he pounced on stage for the VH1 special, Storytellers? Naw...we weren't going to get away with that so easily. While Kanye went through lengthy executions of his biggest hits such as "Flashing Lights", "Touch The Sky" and "Stronger", he of course also went on a few tirades where he stood on his soapbox a tad too long as usual. During Saturday's telecast, Kanye decided to defend the Buffoon Troop of Chris Brown, Michael Phelps and OJ Simpson...by claiming they were "amazing" during his performance of the 808's and Heartbreak track, "Amazing" (Erm...they aren't "amazing" now as recently they've all been doing some stupid shit). In typical network fashion, the comments were edited out for later telecasts. Still what did we expect him to say? Lines from Dr. Seuss's Green Eggs and Ham? Aside from his off skelter word spills (and that awful Lionel Ritchie-esque afro-mullet he's been sportin' lately), there is no denying the man's talents as he put on an entertaining show. The stage was set with "flashing lights" all blaring in their technicolor glory to be in time to the beat of the music and it made for a great stage set-up. Kanye was vibrant as he sprinted across the stage and gave better-than-the-album-version executions of tracks such as "See You In My Nightmares" and "Robocop". Whether you love 'em or secretly hate him, Kanye manages to still prove why he's at the top of his game.
