Cover Smother: Double Vision

Monday, June 1, 2009

Two covers. Two singers. One artist. Designer, Jean-Paul Goude is responsible for designing both of these stretchy covers. The first is for new-wave punk princess, Cristina and her 1984 album, Sleep It Off. Lore has it that since Cristina's album didn't sell as well (she's quite the obscurity but a new-wave pioneer in retrospect), Goude would reprise his idea on Grace Jones's 1985 album, Slave To The Rhythm, probably because he thought nobody would notice...um, yeah. Still the covers explain so much about the black wax inside...wacky yet amazing.
