"Breakin' My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes)"-Mint Condition (1991)

Since there are a lot of questionable things going on with male R&B groups these days, it's really hard to recollect that at one time there were actually MEN who roamed the music terrain. Men, who either sang, played instruments, danced in sync...or did all three without all the shenanigans. Here's where the band, Mint Condition comes into my little revelation. In the early 90's, this sextet emerged out of the Minneapolis sound machine, signed to Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis's label roster, and unleashed the masterful slow churn, "Breakin' My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes)" off of their debut, Meant To Be Mint. This New Jack classic landed at #6 on the charts back in 1991, and gave hope that bands weren't a lost commodity after the days of Earth, Wind and Fire and Kool & The Gang came to pass. Mint's lead vocalist, the underrated Stokely Williams, drives the song into a romantic state of mind with a sax solo wailing in the background. Now this is how you attract a ladies attention, fellows! Oh, and to those menfolk who are interested, I do indeed have pretty brown eyes, thank you very much. *wink*

*whispers* Pretty. Brown. Eyes. Sexiness is introduced in the first 2 seconds of the song, people!...Ah, a video about making a video, the best concept ever...Fades, fades and more fades, gotta love the early 90's...Sista girl is so not directing the video right with her fake fashion consulting, please you want to be in the video...
