News Bites: VH1 Hands The Diva Crown To A Bizarre Foursome

Tuesday, July 21, 2009

Going to make this short....guess who is headlining the Divas Live set this year? How about Adele, Leona Lewis, Kelly Clarkson and...Miley Cyrus. *crickets* Yep, those four names have been tapped to headline the upcoming Divas Live revival on VH1 this September. While it seems quite obvious to have Grammy winner, Adele belt on stage, and considering Kelly Clarkson and Leona Lewis's reality Cinderella stories they were shoe-ins. But Miley Cyrus?? Did VH1 not listen to a word I said about Jennifer Hudson, Christina Aguilera and Jill Scott? Even quite shocked that Beyonce wasn't a headline choice, cause you know her yak hair swinging rump would've shaked her money maker faster than a blender at Smoothie King. Or are we just scraping the barrel for divas these days? Or is there some sort of other conspiracy at hand...ponder.

  3. Bottom of the barrel indeed. Seriously what a bunch of mediocre insomnia inducing sluts! Can someone please go and drag Cher's plastic arse from Vegas to add some much needed glamour to this event?

  4. LOL @ Miley Cyrus.. Diva? Don't make me laugh! And Leona, seriously, they need to stop with the stupid pimping of her - she has done 2 ''divas'' now and lined up for a 3rd. She's stupidly overrated and getting on my tits now with this hype machine behind her. Just like Beyonce, amazing voice but did you hear me say ... cash cow?

They seriously need to just FUCK OFF, I'm getting sick of 'leona this' 'leona that' every fucking time I read a music blog or music critic... She has the personality of a piece of wet card and the voice of rip off mariah but never as good in a million years

  5. The only one I would say keep is Adele who has an amazing soulful voice. But yeah where are Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson.

  6. LMAO @ them including Miley in a show about Diva's. HAHAHAHAHAHA!! That's scraping the barrel right there.

I agree with you on one thing Jennifer, where's Jill Scott in this list? They need to get Jilly from Philly on board, she'd wipe the floor with this show.

  7. That divas list is horrible! We have two 90s divas coming out with albums in a few months, Mariah and Whitney, they need to be on the show, maybe do a duet. Other singers that would be good, Chrisette Michele, Alicia Keys, Beyonce(i'm sure her dad will bully the producers to have her on there anyway), Teena Marie, Norah Jones, and they need to honor Natalie Cole. I feel she is very underrated as a soul singer and would be great for her to be recognized.

  8. Glad everyone feels the same about this...it truly is a travesty especially since Miley is on board. But I guess that's what VH1 gets for not playing music on their channel...poor souls don't even know what it is anymore.

Musiclover, you reminded me that Chrisette Michele would make an EXCELLENT candidate to this. As well as Alicia Keys. And THANK YOU for mentioning Natalie Cole...people always forget about her and she's great. I always feel her, Teena Marie and Gladys Knight get shafted a lot.

So I'd leave Adele on, add Chrisette, Christina, Alicia, Jilly, J. Hud, Annie Lennox, Natalie Cole, Labelle...and yes, I'd even drag on Beyonce. Now that would be a DIVA show.

@ Mike, you slay me, LMAO
