Album Watch: This Box Set Is Making My Dreams Come True

Tuesday, September 1, 2009

When Audio Mom asked me what I wanted for my birthday the usual "money, clothes, shoes, blah blah" babble rolled out of my mouth, causing yawns to erupt across the nation. When people ask me that particular question, a blank projector screen usually pops up in my brain. What do I want? Never do I know. Now, after much thought, I think I should mention that I want this box-set from Hall & Oates as a late birthday present. Seriously want as I have extreme love for H&O. From the look of the tracklisting, I have a sizable amount of what is offered on this. Still a 4-disc collection of unreleased material, early recordings, hits, fan favorites and live recordings from the Philly duo's 30+ career makes it like Christmas with confectioners sugar layered on top with sparkly pink diamonds on the side. In addition to all that wonderfulness, there is also to be a 60+ page booklet with never-before-seen photos, a newly drafted biography and extensive liner notes about almost every song in the collection. Yes, you should be taking this collection seriously. Especially if you need to be a completest or just want to hear Daryl Hall sing basically anything from classics like "I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)" to fan faves like, "Go Solo". I seriously have thought of crafting a petition to make Hall sing all my Media Law class notes and Power-points to me just so that I could get through that class without stabbing an eye out, but, then again, I'll just settle for what is offered, especially all those new live recordings and unreleased tracks. In seriousness, if I don't get this...I will pitch a fit. Do What You Want Be What You Are: The Music Of Daryl Hall and John Oates will be in stores October 6th.
