Remember The Time: Audio Diva Is A Slave To The Rhythm

Monday, September 7, 2009

Another semester has begun. Back on the chain gang. Back on the hardline. Back on the grind. So its appropriate for me to be blasting Grace Jones' "Slave To The Rhythm", just because this song feels my plight. The title track of Grace's 1985 conceptual album embodies thundering production from acclaimed producer, Trevor Horn and bold attitude from a woman who has no trouble expressing it. To think the song was once considered for Frankie Goes To Hollywood...talk about close call. The track sounds even more massive when accompanied with the visual which is nothing short of fantastic. Its a video that has to be seen to be understood as there are bucket loads of imagery, artistic designs and just all around bizarreness. Don't look away, as you might miss something. In honesty, this has to be one of my favorite videos ever, as its just all around entertaining, and because I like a little cayenne pepper in my music videos. So live, work and love to the rhythm, Miss Jones wants you too.

  1. The album of the same name is one of, if not my, favorite record by Ms. Jones.-QH

  2. I wholeheartedly agree. Everything about the 'Slave To The Rhythm' project was masterful, a record ahead of its time...even today!
