Audio Vision: Yes, There Are Better Songs Than "She Wolf"

Monday, October 5, 2009

I admit to liking the trash compactor nature of "She Wolf" right down to the random howl in its shiny electro-disco interior, but Shakira is much more than cheap plastic pop and she proved that over the weekend. The Colombian vocalist appeared on the British music show, Later...With Jools Holland and sung some brand new cuts off of her upcoming She Wolf album. "Gypsy" and "Why Wait" were put to the test, and they pass with flying colors. Really digging on the acoustic-Samba vibe of "Gypsy", which should definitely be released as a single. The beat on "Why Wait" quietly reminds me of The Time's single, "Cool", but the song is rather slinky and infectious, and yes, its feisty enough to be beat "She Wolf" to a disco-dance pulp.
