Freebie Adventures: Res' Black.Girls.Rock! Freely Rocks N' Reels

Tuesday, December 1, 2009

In 2001, we were introduced to the intricate sounds of Res, a singer who's penchant to blend alternative rock, country, neo-soul and whatever fit in her melting pot of sounds, crafted a sound that became strictly Res. Then for a good eight years we wondered what had come of Res. Though she never left the music scene (she has been in Idle Warship since being in limbo with her solo career) the follow-up to How I Do, was an anticipated effort that seemed a lost cause. Now the album that Geffen Records (stupidly) shelved, Black.Girls.Rock! is now available for your listening pleasure, free of charge, but full of high-voltage cuts that expertly pick up where How I Do left off. Cuts like the spirited opener, "On My Way" and the slicing rollin' rock of "Bittersweet" are just some of the morsels of sound that are present on this album. So if you haven't gotten around to re-introducing or introducing yourself to Res, then by all means, take this adventure, at no charge.
