Album Watch: Marina & The Diamonds' 'ElectraHeart' Is Unveiled

Friday, March 2, 2012

To be a broken record...someone else who I've been sort of vying to show their stuff in 2012 is Marina & The Diamonds. Never the mind the un-original alter-ego deal and the yawn-inducing "American society being put through a lens" stitch the album's 'theme' is supposed to have, the jolt of pop power that Marina gives is vital, thus, I'm keeping watch on how the pending, ElectraHeart, is mapping out.

Marina unveiled the tracklisting and the album cover (curlers never looked that sexy) for the ElectraHeart  project on her Tumblr this week, and I let out a sigh of relief, as from the looks of it, the project is shaping up and will be in existence. My only gripe is that one of my favorite songs from 2011, "Radioactive", was kicked to the curb on the list of tracks. Boo! Then again, the sinister "Fear & Loathing" is there and based on the titles (ooh, I wonder what "Bubblegum B*tch" sounds like?), I'm fully ready for this.

Also the quiet release of first single, "Homewrecker" last week continues my hankering for this set, as it's fiercely ambitious in it's electro-pop air, and has Marina doing talky bits in-between an extremely hook-laden chorus. Good news is that you can snag the track over at Marina's official site  for a guilt-free "price" aka code (and the "code" is ELECTRAHEART). So good looks all around for Marina.
