Album Watch: Van Hunt Is A Live Wire
Monday, March 12, 2012
Call me a green-eyed monster or a responsible loser, but I'm not one of those lucky ones who gets to cash a paycheck and spend it on concert tickets, as there's always something else to buy. You know like gas, rent, and yeah, food. So live records, I champion a lot as they spur the imagination and are the next best thing to being there (minus the sweat and rubbing against strangers). This year, I'll get to add one of my favorite music men, Van Hunt, to my live album collection as he's releasing his first live set, Live at the Troubadour this Tuesday. Featuring a wicked set-list from a October '11 spot in West Hollywood, Van will be pulling out fan favorites like "The Lowest 1 Of My Desires", "Down Here In Hell With You", "Dust" and of course, "Seconds Of Pleasure" in all of it's sexual healing, making Live sound like it's to be a festoon of fun.
The release of the live set is more so a hors d'oeuvre to the launch of Van's upcoming tour in support last year's ambitious middle-finger to the mainstream, What Were You Hoping For? Beginning later this week in Austin, Texas, Van will embark on a 22-city tour that is sure to be an electrifying circuit of shows. If you're still on the fence on if you should soak in a Van Hunt show, he's being oh so gracious to give out a free download of "Eyes Like Pearls" live from the Troubadour show, and it's a performance of robust and raucous proportions. Click here to view the dates to the tour and begin to either plan on either beg, stealing, or borrowing in order to grab you a ticket. For those who just want to revel in imagination, then have at the audio below.
