her new EP, Late, which has the Xenomania drummer/songwriter splashing around in more Pop waters than ever.
Late doesn't pounce on you like 2010's Introduction as or knocks you back three counties like last year's outstanding Experiments which had pretty much everything going for it in six complete tracks (one being the shimmering "I Took A Little Something"), still Late isn't to be missed as it continues having Florrie on the war path to shaking up the Pop scene at the moment.
Chock-filled with electric energy and hooks-a-plenty, the delicious lead-off, "Shot You Down" sets the tone and is just superb with it's funky basslines and wall of synths in the climax (!)---favorite for sure. "I'm Gonna Get You Back" has a late 90's quality about it in it's melody and guitar licks, while "Every Inch" amps the sexy up in it's Techno fabric. Another stand-out on the 4-track EP for me, is the trance shuffle of "To The End" and it closes everything out neatly and does what an EP is meant to do---make you crave for more.
I must say that Pop music gets a little life back in it step with gems like Late due to it being less about proving something and more about getting the melodies right.
Oh, and +100 on the Andy Warhol Polaroid-esque shot for the EP's sleeve---niiice.
