First Impressions: Jessie Ware In A 'Wild' Moment

Tuesday, June 19, 2012

So my week just got better...

Jessie Ware has yet to make a misstep in prep for her debut album, Devotion. With "Running", and "110%" already in the bag (not to mention a deeee-lightful rendition of  Bobby Caldwell's "What You Won't Do For Love"), we wonder, can she continue to fly right? With the lovely "Wildest Moments" she definitely does.

As the latest single off of Devotion, "Wildest Moments" continues Ware into brooding simplicity, but this time she's got tinkling pianos and crashing percussion in the mix making for yet another finely crafted turn. The track also plays two coin sides, as it feels 80's stadium rock anthem in places, and tender balladry in others. Somehow (and this is probably that lumpy oatmeal talking) I'm getting a slight vibe of Alicia Keys' "Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart" BUT Ware's "Wildest" is much more artier and supple.

Devotion will arrive August 20th...and impatiently I wait.
