Album Watch: Walking On Sunshine With Soulection

Tuesday, August 21, 2012

Time slips n' slides for me. Sometimes I get so engrossed in the written word that I look up and the moon is up...or sometimes the sun (I'm a night owl forgiveth me). In-between scribbling and typing, I'm trying to feed this blog. It's always hungry, and I know you're hungry too, just as much as I am for just good solid tuneage. So utilizing ol' trusty Bandcamp again, Soulection provided that solidarity that this blog always needs.

Comprised of Canadian beatsman Vlooper and vocalist Modlee, Soulection beam down with their freEP Sunwalk, a five-song EP that is inviting and divinely soothing. One listen and you'll immediately have Erykah Badu's name on the tip of your tongue as Sunwalk follows some Baduizms here and there. Especially listen to "Doo" which could be Badu, but then it isn't, and well, it's alright. Also of note is their rendition of Bilal's "All Matter" which recalls its original source quite well, but Vlooper and Modelee do things a bit more serene, less experimental, and its a vastly appreciated contrast.

As the last moments of summer are dwindling down, download and play in this sunshine.
