Artist Watch: Latching Onto Disclosure

Friday, October 12, 2012

I have been sort of been lollygagging on discussion about UK producing duo Disclosure and their sensational track, "Latch". With a title like that, you gotta serve it like a mean backhand, and deliver the UK producing duo do with a real heater. Along with newbie crooner, Sam Smith (who gives off a Sam Sparro vibe) in the guest spot, "Latch" takes on a quasi-mid-80's R&B love thang that is pretty much one of the best songs I've heard all year --- and that's saying a lot considering there are bevy of songs that get my seal of approval this year.

"Latch" is geared for the duo's debut album, being released sometime next year. They gave us a little test drive with their funky little debut EP, The Face (which is out now) that features other likable numbers like "Boiling" and the Ria Ritchie assisted, "Control". In addition to this, Disclosure are responsible for this fabulous House injected re-fix of Jessie Ware's "Running" that's been making the blog rounds as of late --- and pretty much anyone who can make a brilliant song like "Running" sound great in a new guise deserves a hat tip.

Oh, yeah, there's also a saucy lip-locking visual for "Latch" that was recently released, and if you're *forever alone* like me, it totally depressing, but hey, at least the song kicks ass to where you can dance on the solo tip while others get their slobber on.
