First Impressions: No Shame At All With Jamie Lidell

File this under 'Things To Go Insane Over In 2013 For'...
The much overlooked Jamie Lidell is back to being zany on a brand new album for next year, and a little taste of it comes in form of "What A Shame" which got a release before Thanksgiving commenced. In all of its post-dubstep glory (wait...we're in a post-dubstep world now?), the track is a wild and wacky ride into a heavy duty funk-a-tron land, with Liddell's falsetto playing lush peek-a-boo in-between the icy smack of synths. Very bold and abstract it all is.
I described Lidell's Compass as being like my cluttered closet "varying agendas in that somehow combine together in a seamless ramshackle entity" (yeah, I admit that was a pretty good sentence...), and that was one of the reasons why it was one of my favorite albums to be released back in 2010. Okay, songs "She Needs Me" and "I Wanna Be Your Telephone" had something to do with it as well, but Lidell's sense at crafting beautiful chaos seems to be a theme once again for his upcoming self-titled fourth album and happy I am to hear he hasn't lost sense of self.
...and I'm especially excited about this one, so much so that I had to talk about it twice.
