Robin Thicke is going to let Justin Timberlake finish with his comeback, as he's got T.I., Pharrell Williams (who just ceases to age...) and a cheeky little tune called, "Blurred Lines" that he's serving up for the grown n' sexy folk. Coasting on funky bass-lines and giving off some serious Marvin Gaye "Got To Give It Up" vibes (complete with the yelps), "Blurred Lines" has Thicke in jovial spirits and this is one chewy bullseye of a track to kick-off anticipation for his upcoming sixth album. For visual sake, the three cats get their gentleman on as well as bring the goofies, with Thicke playing up his usual lusty Casanova persona that always gets me to swoon.
With all the jibber-jabber this week focusing on Timberlake and his long-awaited comeback, some will detect some "Suit & Tie" shade radiating off of "Blurred Lines" and its visual. I say 'meh' as Thicke wins this round for not introducing a new project with a lackluster single (yes, "Suit & Tie" is still cruddy). Even though I'm rooting for the both of them and like to see a (friendly) showdown of blue-eyed soul musical wits being tossed between Thicke and Timberlake this year, right now, let me gravitate towards the oh so stylish gait of his Thicke-ness and nestle in "Blurred Lines" and its groove.
