The Royal Resurgence of KING
As I continue to stand while "King" Beyonce instructs me to bow (bish, please), there is only one act of royalty I care to give respect to right here and now and they go by the name KING.
After blindsiding us all with the peerless artistry of their 2011 debut EP, The Story, all had been quite quiet from the Los Angeles trio (sans the time they 'moved love' with Robert Glasper last year). Emerging from the fold, these crowned dames come back to us with their first single, "In The Meantime" and it's a stunner. Featuring dreamy synths that muse along in sonic soulful revelry, the ladies of KING coo cares away on this gorgeously constructed track. In spots it reminds me of a good ol' fashioned slow jammy from the late 80's, especially when the chorus swells in. I don't know about you, but I'm further crowned, kissed, and sold on whatever KING stamps their name on next.
I bow down to this.
