Quadron's Triple Play

Tuesday, May 28, 2013

Seems like a dream, but in a few short weeks a new Quadron album will be beating on our ol' eardrums, and causing us to marvel once again at the partnership between Coco O. and Robin Hannibal. In just a mere week, three cuts from Avalanche have trickled out, starting with their Kendrick Lamar collaboration, "Better Off", a tune that is nestled in a meditative jazz minded groove, that is topped off with breathy come-hither vocals (and Lamar's sorta-kinda-pointless verse). Keeping the same mindset is the recently leaked "Sea Salt" which is a caressing tropic breeze fit for Coco O.'s coos. But wait, Quadron aren't done showing off, as their Stevie Wonder-music minded, Michael Jackson-diction inspired, "It's Gonna Get You" also premiered as it popped up exclusively over at EW.com this past weekend.

There was some apprehension that a major label switch would tamper with Quadron's sound, but after taking in this triple play I'm convinced that the duo are still quite in control of their aural art and that Avalanche will be nothing short of a stunner. Take these down stream till Avalanche arrives June 4th.
