Prepare for your computer and electronic device screens to get a bit steamy as Janelle Monáe and Miguel divulge in sexy wexy times with "Primetime", the now third song and single to be lifted from Monáe's hotly anticipated double album, The Electric Lady project (out September 10th). We've become used to Monáe giving us cheery and socially introspective cuts, but this is a nice flip of script as Monáe lets her little minx come out to meow with
Strangely, Monáe kind of let's Miguel take over in a move reminiscent of his feature on Mariah Carey's lovey-dovey "#Beautiful". Still, right off the bat I oozed into this sultry slow jam, unlike previous singles, "Q.U.E.E.N." and "Dance Apocalypse" --- the latter which is Monáe's most underwhelming single yet. "Primetime" is much more of a game changer, a sigh of relief, and further anticipating agent for The Electric Lady: Suites IV and V, which has a star-packed guest list (Prince, Solange, and Esperanza Spalding are also on board) and hype that can't be denied. If you didn't think (like I) that Monáe and Miguel would mesh, then be proven wrong as you get your sexy on after the cut.
