Clare Maguire Tells Some Little White Lies
Thursday, September 12, 2013
Last I heard from Clare Maguire she was getting her boo hoo cry on by covering Joni Mitchell's heartbreaking classic "Last Time I Saw Richard". Seems that Clare let the tears dry on their own and got over her aching heart real quick as she's in the next stage of dealing with a failed relationship --- not giving a flying f*ck. She wags a middle finger and dons a hard shell for "Little White Lies" a gruff n' tuff single that chock-filled with tumbling bass lines and '90s alternative femme attitude. Alanis, Liz, Tori, Gwen, and Fiona, all of 'em would be beaming proud over this rebel yell.
This is also a neat change of pace for Maguire whose 2011 debut album, Light After Dark, was more of a 'Sarah Brightman meets up with Lisa Stansfield to go to the theater' type of deal. I love it when an artist evolves a bit. Keep an ear out for Miss Maguire, as she's got a nice little stream of tracks that pop up every now and then on her SoundCloud page.
