The Jungle Bring Some Qualifying Heat

Thursday, September 12, 2013

The mystic "Platoon" was one of my surprise listens from the summer, not to mention, possessed possibly one of the cutest videos I've seen in years thanks to an adorable six-year-old b-girl who was doin' the dancing 'do. So it comes as no shock that the UK collective of Jungle have a brand new song that is just as beguiling. "The Heat" is even more potent than it's predecessor as it bubbles and squeaks on percussion and a supremely funky chorus. Parts of this song's phrasing remind me of the Gorillaz's "Stylo" a bit...just minus Bobby Womack.

Jungle have been shrouded in mystery (I'm not even sure if they are a duo, a band, or just simply one guy...), but maybe all will be revealed and then some when their EP, The Heat, drops on October 21st.
