Active Child's Moody Rapor Roars

Thursday, October 17, 2013

Active Child's Rapor EP (which I've already laid out in detail) is some kind of '80s New Wave wonderment. I'm already in a relationship with the Mikky Blanco guest spotted, "Subtle" which is a synth dream of a song that features Blanco exerting some serious vocal spats a la Michael Jackson or Justin Timberlake (depending on how you feel) that are encased in an infectious frosted funk vibe. Amid all the heavily textured and layered material I'm hearing shades of Touch-era Eurtyhmics, a little Icehouse, some Howard Jones, especially as far as tracks, "Feeling Is Gone" and "Calling In The Name Of Love" are concerned. What is a little surprising is how immense the duet with Ellie Goulding sounds, and how effective it is. I stand by that "Silhouette" has a feel like Sinead O'Connor's cover of "Nothing Compares 2 U". It just has that same kind of wintery vortex of sound that kind of sucks you in. Just some real chilling and magnetic stuff.

Raptor EP arrives October 22nd via iTunes , but I suggest you take a bite below now.
