Tawiah Strolls In Candy Rain

Tuesday, October 1, 2013

Today had me enjoying Onra's slowing the speed of Disclosure's "F For You", and for another study of restraint, today also has Tawiah covering Soul For Real's 1992 hit "Candy Rain" and taking it down a couple of notches. Oh, fun! "Candy Rain" has always been one of my all-time favorite '90s songs, as it fits into the soundtrack that was my adolescence and was just a damn good slow jam thanks to late Heavy D being behind its fruition.

This isn't the first time that Tawiah has taken the song for a spin, as she's performed it numerous times while out on tour, but as a special "thank you for holding on till the full length album comes", Tawiah has put it to the studio test. In some ways the sparse acoustic and her usual pensive croon has made "Candy Rain" into an intense soap operatic affair, but Taiwah is such a talent, that I couldn't help perking my ears up to her reworking of one of my favorite songs of the '90s.
