No F For Disclosure and Mary J. Blige

....more like an A+

While there were doubts, it's official, Disclosure and Mary J. Blige needs to be a thing especially after this meeting of the minds. Single "F For You" was in no need of a makeover (as its perfectly fine on its own) but I will welcome Mary Jane strutting in on one of Settle's funkier cuts as it makes for a collaboration that should have happened, well, ages ago. Add to the fact the music video has a sort of a Power Station "Some Like It Hot" quality and you bet I'm quite there for this.

As a fan of Blige and noting her decline into stale sentimental R&B, this collaborative effort is the sound of life breathing back into her career for me. It always crossed my mind with a voice like hers and with the current House music revival, she should be racing at a breakneck pace to become a newbreed Jocelyn Brown or Martha Wash (...just without all the lawsuits) and put that voice to good use instead of wasting it on the material she's been lending it too for the past couple of years. Maybe I'm jumping the gun, or not giving Blige credit for past jobs well done, but this is how you keep things fresh and keep people interested as your 20+ career wages on. As Disclosure continue to be the golden boys of the now with a Grammy nod and recent Stateside exposure, it's nice that they are sharing space with the Queen of Hip Hop Soul and hope that they do this again.
