The Preatures Are Better Than You Ever Could Be

One of my favorite things to come out of 2013 were The Preatures, the hot saucy Aussie band who captured the middle ground between Fleetwood Mac and Prince so precisely on their fantastic single, "Is This How You Feel" that even Daria Morgendorffer (or Lorde...they are the same person, really) couldn't find a pithy comment about. I certainly didn't sneer at it as it was in my top 10 for last year and I hope that this year I won't have to hear "Who da heck?" whenever I mention these guys (and gal!). Shouldn't be any trouble as they pound out another heater that's for that debut album I'm awaiting on.
Drifting away from the bridging of funk-rock, The Preatures get a little '90s alt-rock nostalgic on their latest single, "Better Than It Ever Could Be" and they take us on a roll-licking ride that crashes us into a waterfall of guitars and frenzied drums...and it's brisk. After shying away from newer rock acts over the last couple of years, and missing the days of when The Killers made a 'hot fuss', The Preatures have restored my faith in what it means to make good n' solid dancing-on-the-bar-table guitar rock.
